Omega - 1927 34mm 9ct Gold Watch
Omega 34mm 9 carat Gold wristwatch from 1927!
This is a classy example of a 20’s dress watch, made of solid 9ct gold. Notably, it’s engraved A.M.D 27-4-27 (i.e 27th of April, 1927). These watches are nearly impossible to find, especially in condition as good as this. The watch is keeping extremely accurate time given its age, and it’s just come back from a service via Five:45. Inside is a manual wind calibre, stamped 6299906. According to most sources (though finding exact information on these early calibres is extremely difficult), and from what we’ve observed, has a power reserve of around 40 hours.
In terms of design, the watch has a 34mm case size (excl. the crown), with a classic black & white dial, with a seconds subdial towards 6 o’clock, with second markers every 10 seconds. The dial itself is in great condition, with a slight patina which is inherent with a watch of this age, and has a very thin hairline crack ‘spidering’ out of the ‘2’ on the dial, which isn’t clear unless looked at closely. The hands are arguably what really give this watch its persona, with a delicate, classic dark blue design. The crystal is free of scratches (likely a replacement), and has a domed design, adding to the watch’s generally rounded profile.
Case Serial Number - 6525588 (indicates 1926-1927 manufacture)
Movement Serial Number - 6299906 (Indicates 1925-1927 manufacture)
