COnsignment Details
At Kiwi Camera Smith, we offer two ‘tiers’ on consignments through us.
Our first standard tier is the most common across other stores, where you send us your camera/lens, we evaluate it, and commence our sales process (get images, write listing details for our site & TradeMe, create promotional content, etc.), and hold it until its sold. This means that once you’ve sent it to us, you do nothing else until you receive the money. Our commission rates are listed below.
In our second tier, you send us your camera/lens, we evaluate it, go through our sales process (get images, write listing details for our site & TradeMe, create promotional content, etc.), then follow that process, and we send the product back to you to hold until it’s sold. Following its sale, you send it to us a final time to get a final quality check before it’s finally shipped away to its purchaser.
We’ll discuss which tier would best suit you, and the gear you’re selling via email or phone call after you’ve filled out the form on our sell/trade/consign page. It’s worth noting that we’re more likely to recommend the first tier for smaller products, such as 35mm lenses & cameras, up to smaller medium format cameras in some instances. We’re most likely to recommend the second tier for bulkier kits, or if you’d rather a higher value sale as opposed to a quicker one. We also invoice at slightly different times depending on the tier.
Pricing (rough guide, subject to change +/- 3% depending on advertising costs chosen by seller, etc):
Tier One, Under $500 Sale Price - 25%
Tier One, $500-$1000 Sale Price - 22%
Tier One, $1000-$2000 Sale Price - 19%
Tier One, $2000-$4000 Sale Price - 15%
Tier One, $4000+ Sale Price - 12%
Tier Two, Under $500 Sale Price - 20%
Tier Two, $500-$1000 Sale Price - 18%
Tier Two, $1000-$2000 Sale Price - 15%
Tier Two, $2000-$4000 Sale Price - 12%
Tier Two, $4000+ Sale Price - 9%
